Got my Washing Soda! and some reviews

I never thought I would be excited to get cleaning products in the mail!

After lots of searching and confused looks when I asked where I could find Washing soda, I gave up trying to find washing soda here in town. I did find some at the health food store, but it came in a plastic bag and it was about 1/4 of the amount I found on Amazon.

So today it finally arrived after what felt like weeks, but was only days, now i can finally make my own dish soap, dish washing powder, and laundry detergent among other things! The best part it that it comes in a cardboard box so I can recycle it! I don’t even have to worry about that little metal spout/tab thing you sometimes get.

I will be posting recipes for all the products I make coming up soon! as for first and second products (toothpaste and body wash) I think its time for a review.

The Toothpaste: I made it with 2 tbsp coconut oil, 2 tbsp baking soda, 30 drops of spearmint essential oil and I added 2 capsules of charcoal for whitening.

The verdict: It’s great! it was strange to get used to at first being salty and not foaming, But I gotta say, my teeth are a bit whiter, and just as healthy(not verified by a dentist, they just seem like it to me). They feel clean and I don’t have that overwhelming minty feeling after brushing (great for if you need to eat before this goes away). I haven’t had any tooth pain or sensitivity which I usually associate with cavities, so I assume its working for me! the compostable bamboo brushes are great too! Still in great condition and its been about 2 months.

The Body Wash: I used 1/4 cup castille soap, 1/2 cup water, 2 tbsp honey, essential oils, 2 tbsp vitamin E oil, and 1 tbsp olive oil.

The verdict: This is pretty good, I might add a bit more oil just to stave off the dryness of the soap, Although I still wanted it to lather a bit, and don’t want to feel greasy afterwards. I will try adding 1 more tablespoon of oil and re-posted another verdict later.
